The Acorn's High School Football Game of the Week
Thousand Oaks Lancers (4-0) at Agoura Chargers (3-1) Friday, 7 p.m.
      Two teams with tons of momentum will face off Friday night when the Thousand Oaks High Lancers travel to Agoura to take on the Chargers. Agoura is fresh off its first win over Westlake since 1995.

      Royal (3-1) at Newbury Park (3-1) Outlook: A pair of Marmonte League heavyweights will go toeto-toe at NPHS. Last week, Newbury Park suffered its first loss of the season, a 27-14 setback at Moorpark. The Panther offense struggled to get anything going against Moorpark, and the running game, in particular, was nonexistent.

More controversy between Westlake, Agoura
     JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers IT WAS IN AND OUT—Down 23-22, Westlake High place kicker Stephen Murphy, right, booms a 41-yard field goal attempt with 13.6 seconds remaining against Agoura last Friday at AHS. Video replays show the ball hitting the gooseneck bar behind the crossbar before bouncing out and into the end zone. The refs ruled the kick no good, and Agoura had its first win over WHS since 1995. Cross country runner developing into elite talent
      When Sarah Pearson came to La Reina as a freshman, head cross country coach Robert Lopez didn't know much about her. A lot has changed in two years. "Most of the time, when you get a good runner like Pearson, you hear something about them before they attend the school you're coaching," Lopez said.

Lancer girls' tennis squad 86es Calabasas' win streak
      The Calabasas High girls' tennis squad saw its 86-match Marmonte League winning streak come to an end last Thursday when the Coyotes were defeated on the road by Thousand Oaks 77-67 in games after being tied at nine sets each.

T.O. runs away from the pack at Pepperdine
      With a meet-low 41 pointsthe Thousand Oaks High boys' cross country team claimed first place at the Pepperdine Invitational last Saturday. The Lancers had five of their runners place in the top 20, in cluding Kevin Joerger, who finished in third place overall with a time of 15:33.
