What's up with that?

JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers GOODBYE TO THE OLD HOME DEPOT—A wrecking ball has destroyed the old Home Depot at Ventu Park Road and the 101 Freeway to make way for an 87,938-square-foot shopping center that will include a Walgreen's and a 75,950-square-foot Hampton Inn. The new development will be built with a contemporary Mediterranean-style look. Restaurants and other retail shops are expected in the future. The project is expected to include 508 shared parking spaces. The 10-year-old oak tree on the site will be transplanted because it obstructed the future drugstore's drive-through. Other oak trees facing the axe will be replaced with mature trees. If the replacements die, two oak trees must be planted for each.
