It's crime prevention month

October is recognized nationally as Crime Prevention Month, and the Thousand Oaks Police Department is participating by giving crime prevention talks and police station tours.

Presentations will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thurs. Oct. 9 and 30 at 2101 E. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.

Information will be provided on identity theft, scams, elder abuse, substance abuse and MySpace. Police Chief Dennis Carpenter will address the public, and tours will be given before the presentations.

Presentations and tours are free and open to the public.
