IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers DEAD END—Oak Park High's Cody Bathke is stopped cold by a Newbury Park defender during the Panthers' 7-0 win in Week 3. Venice (0-4) at
Oaks Christian (4-0)
Outlook: Oaks Christian is on a mission, Venice is struggling, and this game has the look of another blowout for OCHS.
Venice, which shocked Oaks Christian a year ago, has scored 20 points in four games and has been shut out twice.
The Lions only allow 6.7 points per game. We'll take the under, please.
Offensively, OCHS quarterbacks Nick Montana and Tony Macarena are spreading the ball all over the field. Nine different receivers have caught a pass for the Lions thus far.
Running back Malcolm Jones has been virtually unstoppable. He's averaging 9.1 yards per carry on the season.
Moorpark (2-1) at
Newbury Park (3-0)
Outlook: If you're a fan of lowscoring, defensive battles, then this game is right up your alley.
Newbury Park and Moorpark have given up the least amount of points in the Marmonte League, with the Panthers allowing a league-low 21 points, an average of seven points per game.
Moorpark has allowed 38 points this season, good for 12.6 points per contest. With a ballcontrol offense, MHS doesn't give its opponents a lot of chances to score.
The Panther defense is led by juniors Christian Hutchins and Josh Sackheim, as well as seniors Jackson Powell and Brandon Born. Seniors Corey Sandoval and Cameron Phillips star for the Musketeer defense.
