Time to run through orchards

SOAR (Save Open-space and Agricultural Resources) will hold its fourth annual SOAR 5K "Run Through the Orchards" beginning at 8:30 a.m. Sun., Oct. 12 behind Underwood Family Farms, 3370 Sunset Valley Road, Moorpark.

The race will be run on an alldirt course through walnut, avocado and orange groves in the Tierra Rejada Valley greenbelt.

Medals and prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners in eight age categories. The event will also include a 3K fun walk and after-race drawing.

Day-of registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under. Preregistration is available through Mon., Oct. 6 and is $20 for adults and $8 for children.
