COSCA needs Trail Work Day volunteers

The Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA), in conjunction with the Conejo Open Space Trails Advisory Committee and the Conejo Open Space Foundation, will hold its 18th annual COSCA Trail Work Day on Sat., Oct. 18 starting at Conejo Community Center, 1175 Hendrix Ave., Thousand Oaks.

The day's schedule is: 7:30 to 8 a.m., check-in and registration; 8 to 8:30 a.m., buses depart to work areas; noon to 12:30 p.m., buses transport volunteers back to Conejo Community Center; and 12:30 to 2 p.m., lunch and door prize giveaway.

Individuals and families interested in the Conejo Open Space and trail system in Thousand Oaks are encouraged to participate. The event will include work to help rehabilitate sections of trails in the greater Conejo Valley. There will also be a children's activity at the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden.

Participants will receive a snack prior to departing to work areas. Free bus shuttles and tools will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to wear long pantslong-sleeved shirts, sturdy shoeor hiking boots, gloves, hats, sunscreen and a small backpack tcarry water and food.
