Bike rodeo to help kids be safer
The city of Thousand Oaks Bikesafe campaign and the Thousand Oaks Kiwanis Club will cosponsor the inaugural Glenn Garvin Memorial Bike Rodeo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., Oct. 18 in the Teen Center parking lot at Conejo Creek Park North, 1379 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.
The event is an opportunity for children, teens and parents to learn more about the safety aspects of bicycle riding.
Young riders can navigate the Safe Moves City and practice safety techniques. Mountain bike riders can practice safe jumping on ramps. Other activities include a rock climbing wall and a Jolly Jump.
The Kiwanis Club will be selling barbecue lunches and drinks.
The Newbury Park Bicycle Shop will be giving away a free bike.
