BILL SPARKES/Acorn Newspapers TO THE HOUSE—Westlake High tailback Justin Lilley brushes off a would-be tackler en route to scoring the first touchdown of the game against Saugus in Week 2. WHS lost, 42-40. Outlook: Through the first two games of the season, one thing is abundantly clear: Westlake can put points on the scoreboard.

In dropping a 42-40 shootout at home to Saugus in Week 2, the Warriors rolled up 653 yards of total offense, including 388 passing yards from senior quarterback Ben Conlin.

Defensively, however, WHS wasn't good against Saugus. The Centurions put up 468 yards of offense despite having a few other big plays negated by penalties.

Hart, which traditionally fields a high-powered offense, has only scored 22 combined points in its first two games.

The Indians are coming off a 16-0 victory over Righetti.

Last week's

top performers

John Lister, RB, Thousand Oaks: Lister, a senior, broke his own school single-game rushing record with a 307yard performance during the Lancers' 28-6 victory over Buena.

TOHS offensive line: Someone had to open up all those holes for Lister to exploit. Right tackle Lucas Clifford, right guard Nick Caprarelli, center Sean Henson, left guard Bob Lamm and left tackle Eddie McGilvra all started and played well.

Cameron Roberson, RB, Newbury Park: Filling in for an injured Chris Brown, Roberson rushed for 201 yards on 23 carries and scored four touchdowns as NPHS hammered Rio Mesa, 44-14.
