Kevin Bowen of Thousand Oaks was selected as one of 19 Presidential Scholars of California Lutheran University at the start of the 2008-09 year.

The program, established in 1997, recognizes freshmen of outstanding academic caliber who embody the university's educational and social goals. The students receive scholarships ranging from $14,500 to full tuition for four years.

The recipients have an average high school gradepoint average of 4.35 and average scores of 1346 on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT or 30 on the ACT.
