Council member challenges expenditure of $375,000 for city furniture

      Ventura County residents who have registered to vote by mail can pick up their ballots starting Mon., Oct. 6 at Ventura County Elections Division, Hall of Administration, lower plaza, 800 S. Home sales still slow
      August sales of Conejo Valley single-family homes totaled 150. This compares to 121 sold a year ago, according to Patti Hepple, president of the Conejo Valley Association of Realtors. Median sales price for single-family homes in August 2008 was $682,539; in 2007 it was $768,939.

      Local dentist Tom Glancy is running for election for the first time to continue the work he's been doing as a member of the City Council for the past three years. His first three years began after Councilman Ed Masry, elected in 2004 to serve for four years, died in December 2005.

Dedicated volunteers honored for their community service with concert
      Bob and Kathy Lewis, Frances Prince and Dennis Ritterbush were recently honored for their service at a concert dedicated to them at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sept. 13. Animal control takes 13 dogs, 1 cat from dog trainer's home
      Sandy Espinoza wants her cat and 13 dogs back from Los Angeles Animal Care and Control so she can take them with her to Missouri. She and her pets were separated on Aug. 4 when the California Highway Patrol came to her Thousand Oaks home and arrested her for a warrant on an unrelated matter, she said.
