Citizens can enroll now to take emergency response classes

Residents can learn techniques of emergency response.

The Thousand Oaks Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) is an allvolunteer disaster response and community action team dedicated to training its members and educating residents in emergency preparation and response.

DART members learn about public safety techniques, enabling them to assist the community, in case there's an emergency.

DART is funded by the city of Thousand Oaks, certified by the Ventura County Sheriff's Department and is administered by the city of T.O. Police Department.

DART is seeking new members and offering a series of classes required for acceptance onto the DART Team. New members must have completed Community Emergency Response Training within the last two years.

Classes will be at the Thousand Oaks Police Department community education room, 2101 E. Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks. Sessions will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 6, 20, and 27, and Nov. 3, and 10.

Two Saturday classes are also scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat. Oct. 18 and Nov. 1.

Preregistration is required.

For more information or to register for classes, call Steven Pellnitz at (805) 3901278 or email DARTClasses@todart.org.
