9/11 changed his life forever
      On Sept. 11, 2001, I woke up at 5:45 a.m., a little later than usual. I was running out the door when my wife stopped me to ask me if I took care of paying a bill. Focused on trying to get to work, I left abruptly and sped off to the parking lot.

      Regarding the Sept. 4 letter "Dunn defends his decisions on the board of education," Mike Dunn claims to be an "advocate for the rights and wishes of the parents with children in our public schools." His statement is demonstrably wrong on at least two counts.

Parents of kids at Meadows refuse to be silenced
      Laura Witham's Aug. 28 letter states she's tired of criticism of Conejo Valley Unified School District, specifically a letter by John Hollister in the Aug. 7 Acorn , ("Meadows should be a charter school.") Witham claims, "Our children will get a top-notch education at any school in the district.

Voting for change on Election Day
      The price of gasoline has reached $4 a gallon while Exxon Mobil is posting record profits, the largest in the company's history. The soaring price of gasoline can be attributed to the deregulation of the oil industry, which began with President Reagan and culminated with President Bush.

      As I was driving on Duesenberg Drive today, I was floored to see a "Self-Storage Coming Soon" sign on the vacant land near our post office.

Volunteers at the animal shelter are wonderful people
      I would just like to thank everyone at the Agoura Animal Shelter for all of the hard work they do to take care of all the lost dogs, cats, bunnies, horses and birds. Thanks to all the volunteers like my grandpa Walt, and thanks to all of the L.A. County workers and officers like Sgt. Fred.
