Topanga Canyon Docents need volunteer help

Topanga Canyon Docents are seeking volunteers interested in learning about the natural history of the Santa Monica Mountains and leading midweek interpretive walks for school children and weekend family walks within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation areas.

A new volunteer training class will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sat., Sept. 20 and continue through Nov. 22. The 10 six-hour sessions will be taught by local experts and cover geology, biology, botany, American Indians and interpretive techniques.

There is a fee to cover docent membership, written materials and introductory walks.
