•The Ventura County Sheriff 's Office of Emergency Services has partnered with Ventura County school districts in hosting four disaster preparedness multimedia art contests to educate students of all ages on how to be prepared at home.

Students may submit entries in art, photo video and essay categories. Awards will be given to the best individual, grade, school and district for each category.

For more information about the contest, call the Office of Emergency Services at (805) 654-2551.

•County of Ventura employees will also participate in voluntary American Red Cross training and complete a survey to measure their level of personal preparedness in the event of a disaster.

•The American Red Cross of Ventura County will offer several community classes in adult CPR, first aid for adults and children, California Child Care courses and health and safety sessions. For class schedules, go to the website www.arcventura.org.
