EV Free sponsors lectures for women
      The EV Free Church of Newbury Park is sponsoring a lecture series designed to help women cope with difficulties in life using biblical principles. The first lecture in the series, "Anger, Bitterness and Forgiveness," will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 18 at the Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road.

CLU selects director of church relations
      The Rev. Arne Bergland has been selected as the director of church relations for California Lutheran University. He began his new position Sept. 2. Bergland will sustain and expand CLU's relationships within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Gathering for Jewish singles
      The Ventura County Jewish Federation of Singles will host a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. Sat., Sept. 27. The location will be given when a reservation is made. Jewish singles ages 40 to 60 are invited to bring an instrument or a favorite game to play, and a dish to share.

National Unitarian Universalist leader to speak at building dedication
      The national leader of the Unitarian Universalist denomination, the Rev. William G. Sinkford, will speak at dedication ceremonies for the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship's new sanctuary and multipurpose building at 4 p.m. Sun., Sept. 7 at 3327 Old Conejo Road in Newbury Park.
