Two public hearings to go before council

The Thousand Oaks City Council will hold two public hearings during its Tues., Sept. 9 meeting.

To help reduce noise problems, the council will consider the planning commission's recommendation to allow fences and walls on properties adjacent to streets with four or more lanes, such as Lynn or Erbes roads, to exceed the current citywide 6-foot height limit. For more information, call Steve Kearns of the community development department at (805) 449-2315.

Charging a user fee for smoking permits in outdoor dining areas will also be discussed. For more information on the smoking permit fee, call Geoff Ware of the community development department at (805) 449-2305.

City Council meetings begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd.
