DeVetis produces in pool

Anthony DeVetis After enduring five days of preliminaries and finals at the Junior Olympics in Santa Clarita, Anthony DeVetis made the top eight of five swimming events.

DeVetis, who swims for Conejo Simi Aquatics, had been preparing all summer for the competition, and from Day 1 he outperformed some of the best swimmers in SoCal while breaking all of his personal-best times.

Earning two individual Southern California record times and ranking fifth in both the 50- and 100-meter freestyle, DeVetis went on to place fourth in the 200 breaststroke and sixth in the 200 freestyle and 200 IM.

DeVetis is a freshman at Newbury Park High.
