The handbell quintet from Westlake Lutheran Church performed at two local venues on Aug 16.

The quintet, part of the church's full English handbell choir, played at the United Cerebral Palsy Home and, later the same day, at University Village.

The program included spirituals, contemporary worship music and standard hymns.

The musicians were Carol Ziebel, Bree Howard, Stephanie David, Jackie Hauck and Dorothy Caimano. They demonstrated different bell techniques and talked about the history of bells, which dates back to prehistoric times.

The handbell choir will begin rehearsals in September at Westlake Lutheran Church, 2630A Townsgate Road, Westlake Village. New participants are welcome. For more information, call the church office at (805) 497-4888.
