John Dean to speak at Moorpark College
      Former White House counsel John Dean will be the keynote speaker at the Constitution Day events on Wed., Sept. 17 at Moorpark College, 7075 Campus Road, Moorpark. The public is invited to attend, and it's free. A free-speech forum with tables from area political groups and voter registration will open at 10 a.m.

Library to close for holiday
      The Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park libraries will be closed Mon., Sept. 1 for Labor Day. Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library is at 1401 E. Janss Road. The Newbury Park branch is at 2331 Borchard Road. During the closure, books may be returned to the book drops at either library, and the library may be accessed 24 hours a day at www.toaks.org/library.

Foster homes needed for Siamese cats
      Southern California Siamese Rescue, a nonprofit corporation, is seeking foster homes for abandoned and rescued Siamese cats. Foster families provide a spare room, food, litter and care. Any resident cats in the foster home should be indoor only and negative for feline HIV and feline leukemia. The rescue agency will pay for approved medical costs.
