Griping should be an Olympic sport

Wow! Little did I know how powerful I was.

Some of my reading fans remember letters I've written years ago. With all the attention I've been getting you'd think I was running for an office.

The Acorn may want to hire me to be on their staff, or I could start just charging a fee for my letters to the editor because I draw such a crowd and controversy.

It's a little embarrassing to dominate the opinion page week after week; never thought of myself as a celebrity. All I can say is move over, Mike Dunn; I think I'm gaining on you in the tabloid section of the papers.

I'll do my best to get my monthly letters out, I'd hate to disappoint any of you that don't like my griping, because then you wouldn't have anything to gripe about.

Isn't it a great sport? I gripe about something then you gripe about my griping.

Here's something to keep in mind, especially for those I don't even know who write about me: We all experience differently, walking in our own shoes.

Your experience and life in Thousand Oaks may be completely different than mine. I'm happy for all of you that are completely satisfied with your quality of life living in this community.

We have been very fortunate to experience one of the greatest places, geographically, on this earth.

I got to see it when it was a lot better, environmentally and emotionally, for my standards and quality of living.

Did you happen to catch the article on July 31 about neighborhood dysfunction? Hate to rub your nose in it, but it really proves my point. This is not Mayberry anymore.

See you again next month; take care. Marilee Ullmann Thousand Oaks
