Elemental art exhibit coming to Ventura this month

The Museum of Ventura County artists invitational exhibit, "Between Heaven and Earth: Entre Cielo y Tierra," will open with a free public reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Sat., Aug. 31 at the museum, 89 S. California St., Ventura.

The exhibit will run Aug. 30 to Nov. 30.

Works created for the exhibit interpret elements found on Day of the Dead altars. Artists include Dianne Bennett, Erika Carter, Emilia Garcia, Maribel Hernandez, Brecia KralovicLogan, Leslie McQuaide, Luke Matjas, Alicia Morris, Keith Puccinelli, Dave Rivas, Teal Rowe, Susan Seaberry, Manuel Unzueta and Andrea VargasMendoza.

Also opening on Aug. 30 is "Infinite Night," a selection of linocut and woodcut prints by Artemia Rodriguez.

Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free.
