Wellness hosts comedy event

"Stand Up for Cancer Survivors," a comedy fundraiser for The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura, will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sun., Sept. 14 in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza's Scherr Forum Theatre, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks.

Six to eight comedians from the Comedy and Magic Club of Hermosa Beach are scheduled to perform. The fundraiser was organized by honorary Rotarian Merv Kopp and co-chaired by Baseball Hall of Famer George "Sparky" Anderson and Thousand Oaks Councilmember Dennis Gillette.
