Kicking their way to success
     HONORED—The CVU girls U-11 team Inferno took second place in its division at the Irvine FC Showcase Tournament. Hebrew school receives accreditation
      Conejo Hebrew High School, a supplementary foreign language school in Agoura Hills, received its independent accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in July.

Jazz series returns to Hyatt Westlake
      Saxophonist Richard Elliot and trumpeter Rick Braun will perform at the Westlake Jazz Series at 7 p.m. Sat., Aug. 16 in the outdoor garden at Hyatt Westlake Plaza, 880 S. Westlake Blvd.,Westlake Village. The show will combine elements of jazz, pop and R&B.

Time for a little light reading
      READY TO LEARN- Manzanita preschoolers hold books they received last week in their class in Newbury Park. The books were donated by Sage Publications through the First 5 program. The preschool obtained more than 30 books, and additional volumes were donated and will be distributed to other classrooms.

Thousand Oaks resident graduates with master's degree
      Megan Irene Braun of Thousand Oaks graduated from Radford University with a Master of Science in psychology at the end of spring semester. The university is in the New River Valley near the Blue Ridge Mountains in Southwest Virginia.
