Newbury Park runner medals at Junior Olympics

Terry Pagano Terry Pagano of Newbury Park received a bronze medal in the 400-meter dash at the 2008 USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Omaha, Neb.

Despite scorching heat and high humidity, Pagano finished in 50.69 seconds.

During the regular season, Pagano ran with the Newbury Park Track Club under coach Jack Nosco. Since the track club has no postseason program, Pagano joined the Southern California Running Cougars for the Junior Olympics.

Pagano and his team also received gold medals in the 4x100 and 4x400.

To compete in the Junior Olympics, Pagano won first place in the 400 at both the Southern California Association event at Los Angeles and the Western Regional USATF Championships at San Diego.

In the fall, Pagano will attend Newbury Park High, where he will also play football.
