Citizen Academy is seeking applicants
The Thousand Oaks Police Department is offering its 23rd Citizen Academy starting Wed., Sept. 3. Classes are held each Wednesday for 12 weeks from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at the Thousand Oaks Police Station, 2101 E. Olsen Road.
The curriculum offers an opportunity for residents to get an in-depth look at local law enforcement and its diverse operations.
The course includes special activities and field visits to the Sheriff's Pre-Trial Detention Facility (Main Jail), Crime Lab and Training Academy.
Class members will have an opportunity to participate in training exercises such as the Force Options Simulator, where they perform quick decisions, using force options in various scenarios.
Among the many classroom presentations included are narcotics, investigations, SWAT and K-9.
