Yankees the top Pinto team in Newbury Park
     PANTHER PRIDE—The Newbury Park PONY Baseball Pinto Yankees finished first in the regular season with a record of 17-1-2. They went on to take first place in the postseason tournament as well. T.O. resident in Olympics
      Will Simpson, a Thousand Oaks resident, has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team in show jumping. Simpson will team up with Carlsson vom Dach, a 12year-old Holsteiner gelding, for the Games, scheduled to take place in Hong Kong from Aug. 9 to 21.

      Last year, Westlake High head girls' volleyball coach Ernest Rittenhouse decided to move Michelle Ketter from the opposite position to outside hitter. Ever since the switch, Warrior opponents have been paying the price.

Newbury Park softball squad takes first
     RED-HOT—The Newbury Park U-10 Gold girls' softball team finished in first place at the Beat the Heat tournament in Goleta. Newbury Park went 5-0 in the event and upended Santa Monica in the title game, 6-2. The girls dedicated the win to teammate Katlin Bowers and her family. Softball players, teams sought
      The Conejo Recreation and Park District Sports Office is accepting registration for the 2008 Adult Fall Softball League. Games are played Sunday through Friday evenings, Sept., 5 through Dec. 14. The league is open to players age 16 and over, and offers Coed, Men's, Men's Masters, Church and Women's Open divisions.
