Suggested motto for Thousand Oaks: 'Love it or leave it' In response to "Our city isn't what it used to be" written by Marilee Ullmann in the July 10 edition of the Thousand Oaks Acorn, yes, Ms. Ullman, Thousand Oaks isn't what it used to be; it's better! How dare you complain about one of the most attractive and desirable cities in Ventura County, as well as the state of California. You claim that our fair city has "lost its innocence." Our beautiful city has progressively evolved from a rural settlement to a wonderful Southern California city. Innocence has nothing to do with progress. I'm especially confused as to the integrity of the letters you submit to our local papers. One reason being, in one of your previous letters, you compliment Thousand Oaks as being "this wonderful place we call home." On July 10, you claim that the quality of life is being squeezed out of our town. Which one is it, Ms. Ullmann? Life quality isn't being squeezed out of Thousand Oaks. Yes, there are economic problems which can arise in any city. You state that Thousand Oaks "isn't Mayberry anymore." Thousand Oaks has absolutely nothing to do with a fictional town that doesn't exist. I think you should do the beautiful city of Thousand Oaks a great act of community service and relocate you and your complaints to "Mayberry" immediately! Either that, or maybe you could just blow away, just like the horse manure you tell us about. Ed Norfleet Westlake Village |
