Pet peeves shared
About a month ago my wife and I attended a wonderful production of "The Mikado" at the Theatre on the Hill, the site of the old city hall. In one scene, a character cites a list of his pet peeves; the title of the song is "I Have a Little List."
In the spirit of the song I would like to offer my "little list:" 1. Motorists who conduct con
versations from their cars in
the middle of the street. 2. Dogs who bark for endless
hours. 3. Motorists who speed on city
streets where children play. 4. Bicyclists who ride two
abreast. 5. Wet newspapers. 6. Mothers who wheel their
baby buggies two abreast in
the mall. 7. Motorists who race through
parking lots. 8. The service charge for buy
ing tickets at the Kavli. 9. Motorists who race the stop
light at intersections. 10. Motorhomes parked on city
streets blocking the view of
traffic. 11. Tall people sitting in front of
me at the Kavli. 12. Crows who don't have any
respect for my parked Camry. 13. Neighbors who have jungle
growth in their front yard,
blocking the view of oncom
ing traffic. 14. The rush of traffic in the Kavli
parking structure after a per
formance. 15. The parking of huge trucks
in the middle of Thousand
Oaks Boulevard while un
loading vehicles. 16. Discourteous motorists on the
freeway who refuse access to
oncoming traffic. 17. Giant trucks on our freeways,
which I find intimidating and that block the view of traffic. Samuel Rosen Newbury Park
