Young soprano to perform at local fundraiser in T.O.

The Italian Catholic Federation, a charitable fundraising organization, will sponsor a recital by soprano Emma-Grace Dunbar at 7 p.m. Sat., Aug 2 at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church, 155 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. A reception will follow the performance.

Emma-Grace Dunbar Emma-Grace Dunbar Dunbar, a Thousand Oaks native, began singing with the Los Robles Children's Choir when she was 10 years old, often as a featured soloist.

Dunbar is completing her degree in voice performance from Westminster Choir College, a music conservatory in Princeton, N.J. She does additional academic study at Princeton University. She was named a 2008 Rider Scholar for academic excellence.

She has been a multiple winner of the New Jersey NATS Festival of Singing Competition and has received the Richard Carpenter Scholarship for the Performing Arts.

Dunbar has performed at Carnegie Hall, Trenton War Memorial and Philadelphia Concert Hall with the Westminster Symphonic Choir. This summer, she completed the L.A. OperaWorks Emerging Artists Program and was invited to join the teaching faculty of the Summer Vocal Institute at California Lutheran University.

Tickets are $15 for adults. Children ages 12 and under are free. The concert will benefit The Life Centers of Ventura County and also help further Dunbar's education.
