Kingsmen Skakespeare Festival continues with 'Henry IV'

The 12th season of the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival will continue with performances of "Henry IV: The Apprenticeship of Good Prince Hal" outdoors at Kingsmen Park, California Lutheran University, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.

Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays through Sundays through Aug. 3.

In this adaptation of Shakespeare's "Henry IV Part 1" and "Part 2" by John Slade, set in the time period in which the characters originally lived, the play follows the adventures of the young man slated to become king and his lovable scoundrel-knight, John Falstaff.

Slade is directing "Henry IV" after starring in "King Lear" at last year's festival. He directed "King Henry V" in 2004 for the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company.

The grounds open at 5:30 p.m. for picnicking and pre-show entertainment. Attendees are advised to dress warmly for cool nights and bring low-back chairs or blankets for lawn seating.

General admission is $15 and free for youths under 18. Two tickets cost $25. Reserved lawn box seating is $60 to $75.
