The chief cause of global warming is Acorn letter writer

I wish to respond to the the letter "U.S.needs energy production, not hot air from environmentalists" by Mr. Di Fatta in the July 17 issue of the Thousand Oaks Acorn.

I have discovered the real cause of global warming, and it can be found right here in Thousand Oaks. It can be found in the comments of Michael Di Fatta regarding energy production and the "political issue" of global warming.

I find such ignorance appalling and frightening. Multiply this ignorance by the millions who may feel the same way and, bingo, there it is: the true cause of our oil addiction and the disaster we'll be leaving for our children.

A more enlightened response may be that, perhaps, an emphasis should be placed on finding energy alternatives, not raping the earth in an attempt to "conserve our prosperity."

Mr. Di Fatta, how about changing a few of the light bulbs in your house to those that use less energy, get rid of that gasguzzling vehicle for a hybrid, turn off that air conditioner for a few hours a day and realize that you have the power to solve the problem, and the solution is not drilling for oil in your "home."

If everyone would do the right thing, our children might have a much happier future. Terry Staler Thousand Oaks
