      I want to thank Marilee Ullmann for her letter in the July 10 Thousand Oaks Acorn ("Our city isn't what it used to be"). It was factual and to the point, and the truth came out. She has the right to share her opinion, and I appreciate her for standing up for what she believes.

The sports editor had it right on the dominant athlete
      Upon seeing the title to the article regarding the "world's most dominant athlete," I expected to be reading yet another column that left out Kelly Slater. The beauty of your argument has to be that it was published the very day Kelly won his fourth event in 2008.

Kids say 'thank you' to supporters of their food drive
      We would like to take this opportunity to thank our generous neighbors of the Oakbrook neighborhood in Thousand Oaks. We also thank fellow students and teachers at Oaks Christian. We put together a neighborhood food drive for Manna, and these people donated so that we were able to fill up the back of the SUV and more.
