Photo caption was overly optimistic

A photograph on the front page of your July 3 edition showed the work being completed at The Oaks and the caption ended with "When the holiday shopping season arrives, The Oaks will be filled with customers."

You must have Nostradamus on your staff!

Right next to the photograph is a story about the decline in commercial real estate.

Rising gas prices and job losses have people, yes, even in the affluent Conejo Valley, taking stock of their situation.

Recession turnarounds are like stopping an aircraft carrier.

It takes a long time.

It's nice to read an optimistic statement like the one in photo caption about The Oaks, but hoping and reality are two different things.

Many people are tightening their belts. Bob Fitch Thousand Oaks
