Red Rockets soar in soccer tournaments
      The Agoura Westlake U-12 Girls Red Rockets All Star Soccer Team won 13 tournaments this year, with a win-loss-tie record of 66-4-1, including 50 shutouts. The tournament season began with the Newbury Park Panther Shootout in November 2007 and ended in June at the Granada Hills North Valley Classic.

Moorpark trumps Conejo Valley in 10- and 11-year-old championship
Moses nearly unhittable throughout District 13 tournament
      For the first three games of the District 13 10- and 11-year-old All-Star tournament at Fiore Field in Thousand Oaks, Moorpark Little League whipped its opponents with an offense that averaged 16.6 runs per contest.

T.O. softball team claims tourney title
     BREAKTHROUGH VICTORY- The Thousand Oaks Girls Softball U-14 All-Star team won its division at the Pride of the Foothills Tournament in Glendora. Team members include Justine Hunter, Alex Morris, Allie Granpre, Kelly Broihier, Natasha Erasmus, Jami Fido, Ellie Tressel, Betsy Leon, Melodie Watkins, Randee Fleming and Paige Harris.

Conejo Valley Little League's comeback kids see season end against Sunset
     MIKE HOUSER/Special to the Acorn IT'S JUST A LITTLE CRUSH- Conejo Valley's Michael Shaw drills a pitch during the Little League District 13 Juniors All-Star tournament at Channel Islands High. After losing its first game to Thousand Oaks, CVLL battled back to win four straight contests, including a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Moorpark in which they were down by scores of 7-1 and 11-4, to advance to Tuesday's final against Sunset. The team's magical ride came to an end, however, as Sunset prevailed 3-1 in the championship. Said Conejo Valley head coach Charlie Shaw: "They never gave up. They came back and practiced hard day after day. They played baseball like they should. It was an outstanding effort by all the guys."

Montana's son opts for OCHS
      Oaks Christian head coach Bill Redell has confirmed that junior quarterback Nick Montana, son of NFL Hall-of-Famer Joe Montana, has transferred to the football powerhouse. Montana previously attended De La Salle in Concord.
