Many helped make ArtWalk an enormous success

Thanks to Countrywide Bank for lending us their grounds for ArtWalk 2008.

With the economy in a downturn, it was nice to get out in the beautiful weather and see the striking work of all the artists from California and other states. For the people that came, "It was delightful," as one young man said.

With no admission charge, free parking, nice music, nice food, a place for the kids to participate, ArtWalk is a treat for everyone. With a few raffle tickets purchased, you may have been a winner of stunning works donated by artists. There was so much beauty to see, all at once and so close to home.

The Conejo Valley Art Museum Board of Directors and the ArtWalk Committee enjoys bringing this outdoor exhibit to the public each year, but we must emphasize that the most important component of ArtWalk is the volunteers. Kudos to all our volunteers, for ArtWalk wouldn't exist without them.

We thank Diane Lohoff, ArtWalk coordinator, for doing a great job and Steve Wiley, recreation service manager of Conejo Recreation and Park District and his crew, and Scott Buchanan for his help with the site map.

We also thank: Janice McGinnis for taking care of the food court and making the beautiful flower arrangements on the museum tables; Helene Volkman, who made sure every station was covered; and Rebecca Griffin, who was in charge of the successful raffle.

Darla Marino, facilitated with advertising, helped little creative hands at Kid Art under the supervision of Sara Rector and assisted by the Girl Scouts from Troop nos. 402, 490 and 148.

The Boy Scouts' help from Troop nos. 730, 753 and 787 at ArtWalk consisted of readying the tables, assisting artists and distributing the programs, as were Chaminade High School students and (kids from the) Thousand Oaks Teen Center.

We also thank the first aid nurses for volunteering.

Thanks again to Countrywide and especially to Spencer Westbrook, building manager. We thank the T.O. Acorn for giving us coverage before and during ArtWalk, and we thank all our sponsors, advertisers, participating artists and all the guests that came to enjoy ArtWalk. Maria E. Dessornes, president, Conejo Valley Art Museum Board of Trustees
