CVUSD retirees announced In its 25th retirement recognition ceremony, the Conejo Valley Unified School District honored 35 employees who won't be returning next year. Susan Falk, president of United Association of Conejo Teachers was one of the honorees. "I'm going to travel," Falk said. "It's really something I love to do, to see many new places. "And to just be able to do some other activities that I haven't had time to do will be nice." Falk said she is especially looking forward to spending time with her new granddaughter, who was born just three months ago. Falk's term as president has been extended until the end of the summer. She will then be replaced by Colleen Briner-Schmidt. Max Beaman, director of secondary education, is retiring after nearly 20 years. Beaman is the longest-running principal of Newbury Park High School, serving as its leader for 17 years. Last September he was named director of secondary education. Beaman was presented an honorary diploma from Newbury Park High School at the graduation ceremony of the Class of 2008 on June 13. Retirees also include veteran special education teacher Joyce Silberberger and Conejo Valley High School and Century High School principal James Martin. The other honorees were: Barbara Adams, Patricia Alley, Bonnie Bell, Carol Berger, Patricia Burrus, Elaine DeCrow, Robert Degenhardt, Eduardo Duca, Susan Durley, Gordon Ellis, Sonia Gillette, Julianne Hendrixson, Sally House, William Kilbourne, Colvin Kindschi, Lea LaBarthe, Kathleen Lewis, Mary Anne Lienhard, Tony Lindsey, Susan Loganbill, Ann Martin, Stan McClain, Adele Susan Miller, Judith Morrow, Christina Myren, Pippa Phillips, Pamela Reeter, Henry Rollins, James Silberberger, Janice Somple and Lesly Vick. |
