Teens plant trees in T.O.

The city of Thousand Oaks Municipal Service Center staff and 18 students from various Thousand Oaks high schools worked on Saturday to plant residential trees along Teasdale and Van Dyke streets.

Grant funding of $57,000 was awarded to Thousand Oaks through the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and their Urban Forestry Grant Agreement. The Median and Residential Enhancement Tree Planting Project enables the planting of 570 trees throughout the city.

As part of the agreement, student volunteers must be included in helping to plant new trees, encouraging local youth to support their community through the contribution of their time and hard work.
