Silverado Senior Living a Leader That's Expanding its Market

Silverado Senior Living Inc. has opened the doors to its newest memory care community at 9410 E. Thunderbird, Scottsdale, Ariz.

Silverado has purchased Stratford Square and has renamed the community Silverado Senior Living- Scottsdale. By adding this new community, Silverado enters its fourth state, expanding its operations into a new market.

Silverado is a nationally recognized leader in providing specialized care for those with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, vascular and other memory impairment diseases. Silverado offers a full continuum of services, providing care from earliest onset through end of life.

Some renovations will take place at the community, including expanding the outdoor walking paths and gardens as well as the addition of Silverado's signature Java wood "memory boxes" outside each resident's room for family to fill with treasures, mementos and photographs.

Silverado will also be adding numerous full-time associates in order to duplicate the staffing model found in its other communities. A full-time registered nurse will be added to direct the clinical care. Full-time licensed nurses will be added for 24-hour licensed nursing coverage. A full-time social worker will be added along with additional engagement staff and caregivers.

Residents are able to bring live-in pets, including dogs, cats, birds and fish, even when they can no longer care for the animals themselves.

Staff may bring their children to work with them, and families are encouraged to bring grandchildren and great-grandchildren to enjoy time with their loved one.

Silverado currently operates 16 communities: eight in Southern California; one in Northern California (Bay area); four in Houston, Texas; two in Dallas, Texas; and one in Salt Lake City, Utah. Each community provides specialized long-term, short-term and day services, and two include skilled nursing rehabilitation wings.

Silverado also provides home care/care management and hospice services in Southern California.

Silverado has a number of research affiliations with leaders in the field of Alzheimer's disease, including UC San Diego, UCLA and USC.
