At Sheldon's, Young People Learn the Ins and Outs of Fashion Design

This summer, get the chance to glimpse the creative world of fashion design at Sheldon's Art Academy.

The school, located in the Oak Park shopping center, is bringing in Dreanna, an industry veteran, to teach and mentor boys and girls aspiring to the fashion world. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in fashion design from Otis Parsons and more than 20 years experience designing collections for brands such as Guess Inc., Lucky Brand, C and C California, Ocean Pacific and Jimmy'Z.

Dreanna will teach design, fashion illustration and garment construction.

Since relocating from Los Angeles to Westlake Village a year ago, she is looking forward to using her skills and experience to train the next generation of fashion leaders.

The fashion design camp is just one of the new additions to Sheldon's Art Academy for students in middle school and up. The academy has recently started a class on preparing an art portfolio. This class is geared toward students for the competitive world of applying to art colleges or studio industries.

The academy continues to offer general art classes in drawing, painting, animation, landscape and figure drawing for students of all ages during their open hours. The school offers the flexibility of purchasing block hours for summer to give children the chance to vacation, go to camp and fit art into their schedule.
