Teen Fire Academy opens

The Ventura County Fire Department will host its annual Junior Fire Academy for teens ages 13 to 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday.

The academy is being offered on the weeks of June 23 to 27, July 7 to 11 and July 14 to 18.

Cost is $50. Firsttime applicants will receive priority over returning graduates. Space is limited.
