Collects a scholarship


READY FOR COLLEGE- Morgan McLeod of Newbury Park High School collects a $2,000 William and Cynthia  Fairburn Memorial  Scholarship.  It's  awarded  to  seniors  with  a minimum GPA of 3.0 who'll be attending a four-year university studying  liberal  arts,  humanities  or  science.  The Ventura County Community Foundation handed out 354 scholarships on June 5 at the Ventura County Office of Education. William Fairburn  was  the  son  of  a  former  Columbia  University professor. Cynthia Fairburn's parents were professors at St. Paul's College in Tarsus, Turkey, where she was born. The Fairburns retired in Ojai, read voraciously and believed the finest heritage to leave to children is an education.
