OCHS coach Stueve leading Conejo Oaks

The Conejo Oaks baseball team has opened its third season as part of the California Collegiate League.

The Amateur Baseball Development Group, the sponsoring organization behind the Oaks, has a 32man roster, including 11 returning players, for the 2008 summer season.

The Amateur Baseball Development Group is a nonprofit organization co-founded in 2004 by Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia, Randy Riley and Kevin Muno, with the mission to raise funds in support of amateur baseball players ages 14-21 throughout Southern California.

The Conejo Oaks are the collegiate baseball team, featuring some of the best talent in the nation. The majority of this year's roster features local prep and college talent, although some players have come from as far as Indiana.

Coach Jim Stueve is again at the helm for the Oaks for his second season after leading the team to a 21-23 record last year.

Stueve has nine years of coaching experience at the high school varsity level, including the past two years as head varsity coach at Oaks Christian.

The 21-23 finish in 2007 landed the Oaks in fourth place in the CCL. The Oaks also won the UCLA bracket of the Best of the West Tournament, which the team will compete in again this year from June 26-29.

In addition to the Best of the West, the Oaks will take part in the Santa Barbara Foresters Tournament from July 9-13.

All of the Oaks' home games are being played at California Lutheran University's George "Sparky" Anderson Field at Ullman Stadium. For the full 2008 roster and schedule, visit the website www.oaksbaseball.org.
