Mutz steps down as TOHS baseball coach After three seasons, a pair of Marmonte League championships and countless memories, Frank Mutz has resigned as head coach of the Thousand Oaks High baseball team. Mutz is leaving TOHS to take a full-time administrative position at Chaminade, where he'll also serve as varsity baseball coach. The coach, who compiled a 61-28-1 all-time record with the Lancers, said the decision to leave was primarily a financial one. "I'm leaving here sadly," Mutz said. "I'm not thrilled with the situation, but it is what it is- the economy. That's the only reason I'm leaving." Mutz said he thoroughly enjoyed his time with the Lancers. "I appreciated the support of the principal and athletic director," Mutz said. "The baseball booster club in that program is the best I've ever seen. And it's just a great group of kids. . . . "The pool of talent in this area is tremendous, and that's the one thing I'll miss more than anything, is having that type of talent from top to bottom throughout the program." - Stephen Dorman |
