Old U.S. flags should be properly retired

American flags should be properly disposed of- never thrown into the trash - when they are tattered, torn, dirty or faded.

Two locations in Thousand Oaks accept U.S. flags and will make sure they are retired with dignity and class.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) has placed a flag drop box at the office of Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks, 2967 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Flags can also be taken to the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge, 158 Conejo School Road, just north of Thousand Oaks Boulevard.
