Cleaning up for new computers
     JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers ACCEPTING DONATIONS- Los Cerritos Middle School Associated Student Body students and teachers are raising funds for a new computer lab by picking up trash during a recent walk from the school to Oakbrook Park in Thousand Oaks. National Youth Leadership Mission is accepting applicants
      High school students who will be starting their junior year this fall are invited to apply to participate in the Anti-Defamation League's Grosfeld Family National Youth Leadership Mission to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., from Nov. 16 through 19.

Boys & Girls offer summer programs
      The Boys & Girls Clubs of Conejo and Las Virgenes will hold a variety of programs for children entering grades five through eight, beginning June 16. Thirty-seven workshops centered around leadership training, character development, fine arts, academic support and enrichment, technology, health and fitness will be available.

Lemonade stands help cancer research
      HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth) leadership seminary attendees will host 11 Alex's Lemonade Stands as part of the National Lemonade Days weekend from 9 a.m. to noon Sat., June 7 at various locations on the California Lutheran University campus and the surrounding area.

NPHS choral group brings home top awards
      A local high school's choral group won seven awards at a Seattle music festival and will bring that talent home for concerts tonight and tomorrow. The Newbury Park High School chamber and concert choirs both earned first place awards at the Heritage Music Festival in Seattle recently.

Firefighter clowns leave big shoes to fill
      The Ventura County Fire Department's "Adventures in Safety" clowns gave their final performance on Fri., May 16 at Weathersfield Elementary School in Thousand Oaks. The clowns will concentrate full-time on firefighting.
