Conejo Recreation and Park District will meet at 6:30 p.m. tonight, Thurs., June 5 in the Community Room at Hillcrest Center403 W. Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks to discuss the final environmental impact report foLang Ranch Community Park.

The proposed 52-acre park would include active and passive recreation areas such as a community center, lighted sports fields, picnic structures/areas, play equipment, trails and several lighted sports courts.

The main entrance to the park would be located on Westlake Boulevard, with a smaller parking area accessed from Erbes Road to accommodate park facilities on the west side of Lang Creek.

A hearing on the certification of the December 2007 EIR for the park project was held on Jan. 17. As a result of that meeting, additional information and clarification was provided and a Recirculated draft EIR was available for public comment. After receiving further comment, a final EIR was prepared.

At tonight's meeting, park district staff will be recommending certification of the EIR, as well as adoption of the findings and a statement of overriding concern regarding the park.

Additionally, staff will recommend that the board of directors approve a project which has been reduced in scope, start the process of soliciting potential consultants for the park's design development and form an ad hoc committee to aid district staff in design development.
