Graffiti vandals a dark cloud over our city
We live in the close vicinity of a very lovely park located adjacent to the Latter-day Saints Church on Wendy Drive and bordered by Bear Creek Drive. I take our granddaughter to this park almost every day as do other parents of small children.
I have on several occasions seen discarded unmentionables by a tree near Bear Creek. On other occasions there has been dog poop in and around the sandbox, slide and swing area, that some ignorant, lazy pet owner didn't pick up, even when baggies are provided at each entrance.
This week the middle school teens have been "hanging out" at the park by the swings and gazebo area. There's a long two-foot high cement wall bordering one end of the sandbox area.
On Tues., May 13, the wall was unmarked, but sometime later that day or Wednesday morning a bored teen decided to deface public property at this lovely park play area with purple graffiti marking of "Specks" and a double arrow below the wording.
It's too bad that this individual chooses to deface this lovely little play area and not write this purple graffiti on the hood of his or her father's or mother's car, or on the side of their Newbury Park home.
This isn't some individual from Oxnard, Ventura or elsewhere, but an individual presumably from a nearby wellto-do residential area of Newbury Park and most likely attends Sequoia Middle School.
This individual should be turned in and prosecuted for blatant vandalism with no respect to public property given such a nice place to hang out now inviting others to administer their graffiti to this wall as well.
