Nuts for Mutts Dog Show includes pet adoptions

The seventh annual Nuts for Mutts Dog Show and Pet Fair will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sun., June 1

at Shepard

Stadium at Pierce College, 6201 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills.

Highlights include a mixed breed dog show with panel of celebrity judges, pet fair, pet adoptions, vendors selling pet-related items, food, live music, silent auction, kid's corner and more.

This year, more than 400 canines are expected in the dog show with such categories as "Fastest Mutt," "Most Ear-resistible Ears" and "Best Kisser," as well as "Best in Show." For the first time, four purebred categories have been added so that rescued pedigrees can compete with mixed breed dogs.

The event benefits the nonprofit animal rescue organization, New Leash on Life. Founded in 1997, New Leash On Life has been responsible for spaying and neutering thousands of pets, rescuing and placing more than 3,000 dogs, providing free educational seminars at local shelters, setting shelter rescue priorities on "hard to place" animals requiring medical or special care, founding the Pet Educational Trainers program, and co-founding Partners for Life, which saved hundreds of animals at the East Valley Animal Shelter.

Tickets available in advance online at www.nutsformutts.org or at the door for $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 to 12. Children under 3 admitted free. Dogs are $5. Free and paid parking are available.
