Kmart site should become city hall

What a great idea from Herbert A. Hutchinson to use the old Kmart site for city hall, (May 22 letters, "Measure B is a shot in the arm for democracy"). He's right about the ample parking.

I never saw the need for city hall to move from the Hillcrest building and area that now hosts the Farmers Market.

If the Civic Arts Plaza is for "arts," why is city hall in the middle of it? The offices would serve us well as a Discovery Center, and it fits in with arts and sciences more than city hall.

The Kmart site would allow all city departments to be on one level. The stairs, slopes, elevators and parking are nuisances at the present location.
