GREEK SQUIRREL WASHES DISHES- Ida Clark of Thousand Oaks was sick and tired of seeing uptight Conejo Valley squirrels so she went over to McGrath State Beach, five miles south of Ventura, to find a foreigner. "I had eaten half of my Greek wrap and decided to share it with a persistent squirrel. I figured he or she would take one sniff of the feta cheese and say, 'No thanks.' It didn't happen; it turns out the squirrel is Greek. He sat on the rock and ate everything that was left. The plate was licked so clean, I didn't even have to wash it." Great dialogue, Ida, but it might surprise you that some of us throw away our plasticware without washing it. But it's great to be tidy if you have a Greek squirrel in the neighborhood! Join Ida and send your Squirrel of the Month photo to tonewstip@theacorn.com if it's digital or to the address on page 4 if it's a print. Regardless of their ethnicity, we don't discriminate against any squirrels. More...

After a lot of review and study of what the real issue is with Measure B, I've come to the conclusion that Measure B will not bring Armageddon to Thousand Oaks. While some well-meaning people who I respect may feel and proclaim that this initiative is all about competition, the reality is that it's actually about our future quality of life in Thousand Oaks.
